The credenza table (often only, credenza ) is a modern table form usually placed next to the wall as a secondary work surface with another table, like a pedestal table, in a typical executive office. When used as an active work surface, the credenza table is often placed on the wall immediately behind or perpendicular to the main table, but close enough so that the user can reach it from a sitting position at the main table by simply rotating and pushing their office seats to it. When planned use is not too frequent, such as holding a book or file that is not regularly referenced, or to act as an additional surface to help facilitate larger meetings, the credenza table is often placed on the wall at some other location of the office, meeting if any. Many conference rooms have a meeting table but no desk will also have a credenza table against one wall. The credenza table is sometimes flat, like a pedestal table, but more often than not having a pile of shelves, small drawers and other corners above the main working surface. The number of overhead facilities is usually called a cage. Therefore, the credenza table is often called "credenza with hutch".

The credenza table is often used as a computer desk, thus leaving the possibility of keeping the main desk surface completely free, when this is required. An executive desk is often the main artifact for meetings between several people. A computer monitor or printer or even a simple keyboard on the surface can be a barrier to exchange.

The credenza table is comparable in shape but different from the wardrobe desk in that it is seen for the most part in large office buildings (not the home office, such as cabinet tables) and most of the storage space is wide open.

The Credenza table is often, but not always, part of a suitable set that can include pieces such as the main desk, conference table, cupboards, bookcases, file cabinets, chairs, or other furniture items likely to be found in the office environment.
