The warehouse management system ( WMS ) is a software application, designed to support and optimize warehouse management or distribution centers.   3. Staff placement - assign staff to function and area, based on Wave, to minimize staging.
  4. Directing - ensuring documented processes and procedures are embedded within the WMS and consistently applied, used and appropriate for the nature of work and corporate service level intentions (eg, International Standards Organization 9000 (www.iso.org)). This function can also be used to divide individual orders into logical work units and the ability to assign them to separate individuals for performance, consistent throughput requirements and physical layout, for example, separating individual case taking from each capture unit, and load taking individual palettes, to increase productivity and support Control.
  5. Controls - provides a milestone for management to monitor progress throughout the day, provide opportunities to respond to problems in a timely manner, and report data for performance analysis.

Integration

The warehouse management system supports the warehouse staff in performing the processes necessary to handle all large and small warehouse tasks such as reception, inspection and reception, disposal, internal filling to select positioning, picking, packing, assembling orders at shipping docks, documentation, loading into carrier vehicles). Type

The warehousing management system can be either a standalone system, part of a supply chain execution suite, or a module from an enterprise resource planning system (ERP). Depending on the size and sophistication of the organization, warehouse management can be as simple as a handwritten list or spreadsheet using software such as Microsoft Excel or Access, as well as a special WMS software system.
