The American National Insurance Company ( ANICO ) is a major American insurance company based in Galveston, Texas. The Company and its subsidiaries operate in all 50 US and Puerto Rican states.

Company description
American National was founded in 1905 by Galveston businessman William Lewis Moody, Jr. The company currently offers a wide range of insurance products and services including life, annuity, health insurance, property and accident insurance, credit insurance, and retirement plan services. Through its subsidiary, ANREM, the company established and developed large-scale residential development, South Shore Harbor, in League City, Texas.
Despite the public company, the majority of the stock continues to be controlled by the Moody family through the Moody Foundation and the Libby Shearn Moody Trust, which is managed by the Moody National Bank family owned trust department.
