Histori
ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) formation dates back to 1990 when it started as "Board Accreditation Committee (RAB)". In 1991, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and RAB reached an agreement to operate the American National Accreditation Program for the Quality System Bureau. American Society for Quality (ASQ) is also associated with RAB and ANSI which lead to the formation of a new partnership known as "ANSI-RAB NAP".
In 2005, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and American Society for Quality (ASQ) jointly renamed "ANSI-RAB NAP" to "ANSI-ASQNational Accreditation Board" and it became the official name of the organization. Currently, ANAB is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with field offices in Alexandria, VA, Tampa, FL, and Fort Wayne, IN. The organization is headed by the Board of Directors, and the Accreditation Council is comprised of experts from various organizations and fields.
By 2015, ANAB is at the center of DNA testing suspension in Washington, D.C, the Forensic Department's laboratory for errors in DNA analysis. In 2016, ANAB combines operations with the Laboratory Accreditation Bureau (LAB) and the Laboratory of Laboratory Accreditation Laboratory of the United States Accountant (ASCLD/LAB). That same year, the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory used the ANAB expertise to handle the assurance of more than 5,000 untested DNA test kits.

Services
ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) provides accreditation through the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and other institutions. Accreditation services give customers confidence in the systems and accuracy represented in the products and services they buy. ANAB also works with industries in the health, aerospace, forestry, and security segments. This equally conducts training courses related to the accreditation program offered.
Criticism
Some standard implementation consultants have been critical of the ANAB accreditation service. They maintain that ANAB and other accrediting bodies are more interested in ensuring the ongoing certification market, regardless of how well or how poorly ISO 9001 standards are written.
