An exhibition , in the most general sense, is an organized presentation and a view of a selection of items. In practice, exhibits usually occur in cultural or educational settings such as museums, art galleries, parks, libraries, exhibition halls, or World fairs. The exhibits can include many things like art in major museums and smaller galleries, interpretive exhibits, natural history museums and historical museums, as well as varieties such as more commercially focused exhibitions and trade shows.

In English English the word "exhibit" is used for a collection of items on display, and the event as a whole, which in American English is usually an "exhibit". In both types of English each object displayed in the exhibit is "exhibit".

In general use, "exhibits" are considered temporary and are usually scheduled to open and close on a certain date. While many exhibits are displayed in only one place, some exhibits are featured in many locations and are called mobile exhibits, and some online exhibits. Exhibitions featuring fragile or valuable objects, or live animals - can be displayed only during formal presentations, under the watchful eye of an officer or educator. Temporary exhibitions transported from institution to institution are mobile exhibitions.

Although the exhibit is a regular event, the exhibition concept is quite extensive and includes many variables. The exhibits range from extraordinary events such as fair World exposition to solo performances of one small artist or just show one item. Curators are sometimes involved as people who choose things in an exhibition. Writers and editors are sometimes required to write text, labels, and accompanying print materials such as catalogs and books. Architects, exhibit designers, graphic designers, and other designers may be required to form an exhibition space and provide forms of editorial content. Organizing and organizing the exhibition also requires effective event planning, management and logistics.

The Paris Salon of the Acadà ©  © nie des Beaux-Arts is the most famous of these, beginning in 1667, and opened to the public from 1737. In the mid-18th century this and the equivalent in other countries have become important to develop and developed. maintaining the reputation of contemporary artists. In London, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition has been held annually since 1769, and the British Institute holds temporary exhibitions from 1805 to 1867, usually twice a year, with one new British painting and one loan from old masters from the Royal Collection and the aristocratic collection of British country houses.

In the mid-19th century many new national museums in Europe were in place, and held their own collection exhibits, or a collection of loans, or a mixture of objects from both sourcer, which remains a distinctive mix today. "Temporary Exhibition Chronology at the British Museum" returns to 1838.

The Universal Exposition tradition of "World Expo" or "World's Fair" begins with the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London; this is only held every few years, last in 2015 in Milan and 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Eiffel Tower in Paris was built for the Exposition Universelle (1889) and serves as the entrance arch.

Modern exhibits may be related to preservation, education and demonstration, the early exhibits designed to attract public interest and curiosity. Prior to the widespread adoption of photography, exhibiting an object can attract many people. Interpretation exhibit

Interpretation exhibits are exhibits that require more context to describe the items displayed. This is generally true for exhibitions devoted to scientific and historical themes, where text, dioramas, diagrams, maps, and interactive displays can provide the necessary background and conceptual descriptions. Interpretation exhibitions generally require more text and more graphics than art exhibitions.

Interpretive graphics topics cover a wide range of archeology, anthropology, ethnology, history, science, technology, and natural history.
