In computing, the menu or application key ( Menu ) is the key found on the Microsoft Windows computer keyboard, which was introduced simultaneously with the Windows logo key. The symbol is usually a small icon depicting a pointer hovering over the menu, and is usually found on the right side of the keyboard between the right Windows logo key and the right control key (or between the right alt button and the right control key). While Windows keys are present on most keyboards intended for use with the Windows operating system, menu buttons are often ignored for the benefit of space, especially on portable keyboards and laptops.
The key function is to launch the context menu with the keyboard rather than with the regular right-mouse button. This can be used when the right mouse button is not present on the mouse.
Programmers using the Windows API can intercept this key by searching WM_KEYDOWN messages with wParam VK_APPS (defined as 0x5D in winuser.h). It has a 93 key code (VK_APPS 0x5D.)
Previous Android devices come with a physical Menu button, but from Android 3.0 it no longer supports buttons on the screen.
