Type of drying rack
There are many types of drying racks, including large outdoor shelves, outdoor shelves, smaller folding portable shelves, and drying racks mounted on the wall. The drying rack is similar in use and function to clothing lines, and is used as an alternative to clothing-powered dryers.
A clothes airlifter pulley, sometimes described as "Victoria", "Edwardian", or "Lancashire", can be loaded and lowered at a comfortable height, and lifts out of the way to the ceiling height while clothing is dry. It consists of two iron frames that are positioned as far as desired to provide suitable lengths, with wooden laths, usually four or six, through holes in them. The frames were suspended from the ceiling by a system of ropes and pulleys. The result is a hoistable shelf with several parallel bars where clothing can be draped, or hung, lengthwise down, with hangers. The shelves are also used in the kitchen, to hang equipment on the street.

Figurative usage
Figuratively used, the word clotheshorse term describes men and women who are passionate about clothes and always perform in public by wearing the latest style. From 1850, this term refers to a dandy man or a quaintrelle woman, someone whose primary function, or apparently, to wearing or showing off clothes.
In this context, the term is similar to a "fashion plate," which originally refers to a lithographic illustration of fashionable clothing in a book or magazine.
