Michael Thomas Green (born July 30, 1971) is a Canadian comedian, actor, filmmaker and talk show host. Known for his shock comedy brand, he discovered a major advantage through his MTV television show The Green Green Show. Green is also known for his roles in Hollywood movies Road 2000, Charlie's Angels 2000, Freddy Got Fingered (2001), [ Stealing Harvard (2002) and Shred (2008). She had married actress Drew Barrymore.
In June 2003, Green served as guest host at Late Show with David Letterman , which led him to be his own live talkshow on MTV entitled The New Tom Green Show . From 2006 to 2011 he became the host of talks on the internet at Tom Green's House Tonight from his living room, and started a stand-up comedy in 2010. While attending Algonquin College as a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, Green hosted an overnight call at the Ottawa University campus radio station, CHUO. The 1990 show, originally a rap music show titled The Rap Show , was followed by an electronic music event hosted by Glenn Humplik. Through the proximity of their event, Tom and Glenn meet and become friends, based on the same passion for antics. Tom's radio show immediately changed the format to the incoming call event (after discovering how to operate the call path in the studio) and two combined forces to host the Midnight Calling Show (which runs from 1993). until 1996). In 1998, Not The Green Tom Show was released by alter-ego MC Face Green. The theme of this album is about MC Face, a brave and mouthed rapper who is constantly angry with and picks up verbal jabs at Tom Green, the box producer who brought some of his friends from My Tom Green Show.
Tom Green Show
Green soon has his own non-paid television show on public access television on cable TV. The first incarnation of The Tom Green Show was broadcast from September 1994 to 1996 as an hour of no commercial public cable access program on Rogers Television 22 in the Ottawa area that aired 50 episodes in two seasons. The Tom Green Show is a variety show format, where he will have guests visiting studios and bands playing in front of the live audience. He also recorded a segment that usually consisted of action played by Green on unsuspecting people. A number of them involve Green's parents, Richard and Mary Jane, who consistently look unhappy and are sometimes angered by Tom's antics. In October 1996, The Tom Green Show aired once as a pilot on the CBC. The show was later captured in Canada by The Comedy Network in 1997 and aired 26 episodes for two seasons.
Rise to the mainstream (1999-2003)
MTV and Tom Green Show
The Tom Green Show was later picked up by MTV in January 1999, where it gained popularity in the United States and around the world. The MTV format format of the show is similar to the original show; it was hosted by Green and hosted by two of his old friends, Glenn Humplik, who occupied the couch, and Phil Giroux, who sat behind the window behind the set and known as the "man in the window" usually drank his coffee cup. In the segment, Green goes to the Gray Owl press conference where he directs and kisses Pierce Brosnan. Brosnan, thinking Green was a journalist, advised him not to give up his job. Green also made many segments embarrassing his longtime colleague and friend Glenn Humplik; even after the couple became famous, Humplik continued to work on his phone company's job, fearing that his entertainment career might not last. Green teases her about this often and once tells Humplik's office phone number in the air.
Green eventually wrote a song called "Lonely Swedish (The Bum Bum Song)", which he composed during MTV's Spring Break while performing on a cruise ship. After showing the music video on his show and attracting his listeners to request it, the song became an instant hit on Total Request Live and also called in Eminem's song "The Real Slim Shady". He immediately requested that the video be terminated for "unfair to 98 Degrees." Then, in his autobiography, he reveals that MTV has pressed him to do so to keep the image that Total Request Live is, in fact, a live demand show (next week's episode has been on-site, completely unaware of "The Bum Bum Song" at the time).
Green's growing fame makes it increasingly difficult to ambush people during the human-on-street segment, which leads him to target mostly senior citizens and non-English speakers. After he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in March 2000, he stopped production on his TV show, but he continued to appear on the channel through reruns and other promotional materials. Green's popularity during this time caused him to enlarge the cover of the June 8, 2000 issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
The MTV show Jackass debuted six months after the The Tom Green Show went on hiatus. Many segments on the show have a close resemblance to the segment of the Green show: Bam Margera rudely wakes up his parents, the Jackass players fall while holding crutches, swimming with sharks, etc.
Testicular and hiatus cancer from MTV
In early 2000, Tom Green was diagnosed, and successfully treated for, testicular cancer. Green wrote, directed and starred in an hour of special MTV television entitled The Tom Green Cancer Special (aired on May 23, 2000), which documents the time leading to his operation and incorporates graphical recordings of his own operations. This episode received critical recognition to reveal the vulnerable human side of the teen television personality. During this time, he started the "Tom Green Peas Cancer Fund" to raise money for cancer research. In mid-2000, Green also spoke in front of thousands of students at the University of Florida and sang a song titled "Feel Your Balls" to help educate others about testicular cancer.
Though it was the Green cancer that caused The Tom Green Show to stop production, a rumor often said that the show was canceled because of the alleged segment in which Green appeared in a bar mitzvah, or other Jewish show, dressed up like Adolf Hitler. Green, however, has repeatedly denied that such a segment exists, and there is no evidence to suggest that such an event occurred. He mentioned rumors in his 2004 autobiography, Hollywood Causes Cancer, that it was apparently started when some Boston teenagers were caught recording themselves doing similar acts and when asked by security, they used the name "Tom Green". Movie careers
Green's fame soon captured roles in several Hollywood movies, including the Road Trip , Charlie's Angels , Freddy Got Fingered (which he also wrote and directed) and Stealing Harvard. Freddy Got Fingered won in five categories at the 2001 Golden Raspberry Awards, awarded to the worst film of the year. Green appeared at the ceremony to receive his award, making him the first player to do so in his twenty-year history of awards, and a second recipient to do so following director Paul Verhoeven for Showgirls in 1995. Green arrived at the award ceremony at Cadillac white, wearing a tuxedo and launching his own red carpet. Marriage to Drew Barrymore and Saturday Night Live
In July 2000, Tom Green was engaged to actress Drew Barrymore. Autobiography
On October 12, 2004, Green released his autobiography Hollywood Causes Cancer: The Tom Green Story, which discussed in detail his Hollywood career, short-lived marriage with Drew Barrymore, and his experience with testicular cancer.
The key incident discussed in the book is Green on a character-based talk show Primetime Glick with Jiminy Glick (played by Martin Short). Green writes that this unpopular interview is the first time he has left any event, and this is partly because Short is "bad" and mocks his testicles. Rap career
In 2005, Green returned to rap and started the group, The Keepin 'it Real Crew , featuring DJ EZ Mike from Dust Brothers, where they performed two live Canadian tours (June 2005 and January 2006). On December 6, 2005, Green released his second solo album in Canada titled Prepare For Impact , which included a bonus DVD featuring footage from his live tour. The album was also produced by Mike Simpson of Dust Brothers. The album includes comedy tracks (such as "My Bum Is On Ya Lips" and "I'm an Idiot") as well as a serious track where he knocks about his Hollywood career.
He has performed with Too Short, Flavor Flav, Grand Buffet, Mickey Avalon, People Under The Stairs, Xzibit, and other popular rap artists at his Tom Green Live show. In January 2008, a second solo rap album titled Basement Jams was released in a download-only format on its website.
In March 2009, at Last Call with Carson Daly , Tom played the example of his new song "It Has Lived Long." On his website, Green stated his intention to release a new rap album in 2010 and talked about working with Music Detail Producer. In an interview in February 2010, Green mentioned an upcoming song titled "The Other Side of the World" and stated that he was developing a television show after the progress of his first major rap album in America. In 2003, Green visited forces in Kosovo on a USO tour. He visited troops in the Persian Gulf on a 2004 tour. In early 2006, Green appeared in several ads for Canadian Public Channel Channels promoting Channels and encouraging voters to participate in upcoming federal elections, taking place at January 23, 2006.
During the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Green was a comedy correspondent for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno where he would scavenge the Olympic village alongside special Olympic athletes for "free stuff", calling themselves "Swag Pack".
On 3 August 2006, Green appeared in America's Got Talent . He drove a skateboard through a circle of fire, looked burned for a few seconds, and was ejected with a fire extinguisher. It was confirmed on the August 3 episode of Tom Green Live that it was a stunt replacement, not Green, who did the action.
Green has hosted special events, including the Canadian Walk of Fame 2005 induction ceremony, the Canadian Live 8 concert, and the CASBY Awards 2005. In November 2008, Green hosted an environmental gaming event on the Discovery Planet Green television network entitled Go For The Green ! .
Green has made several appearances as a celebrity contestant on the reality game show ABC Wanna Bet? , including the premiere episode of the event in July 2008. He was also a contestant in the 2009 season The Celebrity Apprentice . Throughout the season, every celebrity raises money for their chosen charity; Green chose "Butch Walts and Donald Skinner's Urologic Cancer Research Foundation." He was fired by Donald Trump on the third episode, while acting as project manager, mainly due to wake up late on the day of duty - he had been out drinking with Dennis Rodman the night before. Tomgreen.com: The Channel (2006-2011, 2015)
On June 5, 2006, ManiaTV.com announced that it has collaborated with Green to hold a live talk show from its own living room in the Hollywood Hills overlooking the San Fernando Valley. The first show was broadcast live on June 15, 2006 at 11 pm EST night, originally named Tom Green Live! , and aired Monday through Thursday. In January 2008, shortly after the Green split from ManiaTV, the show was named Tom Green's House Tonight . The event is live on TomGreen.com. The pared-down version was then broadcast on The Comedy Network and various local channels in the United States, until Green stopped the show syndication to television. In a 2009 blog, Green noted that he stopped his show from syndication on television due to his dissatisfaction with his lack of creative control. He continues to broadcast the show from his website. Green then starts a monthly subscription service that lets customers have full access to all the videos on their website.
Due to the lack of defined terms, Green often refers to its live stream broadcast as "Web-o-Vision." He also jokingly said he was broadcasting to the "National Internet", although the show had a worldwide audience. Green often refers to his show as, "The highest, longest, and only talk show on the Internet."
From the Green website, Tom Green's House Tonight is usually aired live on the evening of 10 pm EST, although shows can start anytime of the day and night. The event is then archived on its website. As host of the show, Green often plays a straight man while interviewing guests. Stand-up comedy (2010-present)
In various interviews, Green stated that he started doing stand-up comedy at the age of 15 but stopped after he started his public access television show. Green says that returning to a stand-up comedy is something he always wants to do.
In September 2009, Green performed several stand-up comedy shows in Los Angeles, and later appeared on MySpace's secret stand-up show in New York. On November 10, 2009, he announced his first world comedy tour and until January 2010, has toured the world to countries such as Canada, the United States, Britain, Scotland and Australia.

He was later involved in an attempt to calm the audience after Tila Tequila had stones, dirt and urine thrown at him during his performance at the same event. In subsequent interviews, Green said he managed to calm the audience for 10 minutes, but things got worse when he left the stage. Tequila continued to perform for an additional 20 minutes and eventually suffered a facial wound after being hit on the face by a stone.
In an interview April 2013 about discussing his theory of stand-up comedy, Green states:
I do not really like choosing your baby. I do not like to choose people who are minorities, disadvantaged, disabled or people who are not strong people. I want to sort out the truth of speaking to power, to government, to the system we live in which we can not control. I stay away from making fun of people. I do not do many racial problems. I do not do much religious humor. I do not really make fun of people for their looks. I do not really do much to make fun of people for their sexual orientation or their gender. That's not my style. That, by the way, what many people do in comedy. They talk about these things because sometimes they laugh more easily. I am more trying to challenge myself and talk about things like American corporations or addicted to technology or legalize drugs and government and the freedom we have being stripped of. It finds humor in all that stuff.
I feel like trying to change the way people think about their own lives with my standup. I'm not just trying to get a laugh from people, but I really want people out of there and critically analyze how we live our lives in this modern era. We are stuck on our Facebook page and submit our privacy in the surveillance community and we are forced to go through metal detectors and X-ray machines everywhere we go and release our freedom and live in a fear-fearing society. terrorism and war and all these things. There are many embarrassing things happening now in our world that never happened in my life. I see it happening and it makes me scared and worried, so I think if I can make people laugh at it and think about it and talk about it after the show, I get a lot of fun and satisfaction from it.
The stand-up performance of Green September 2011 in Boston aired on Showtime in August 2012; titled "Tom Green Live", was released on iTunes, on Netflix and on DVD in March 2013. Green appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on August 17th, 2012.

Personal life
Tom Green married actress Drew Barrymore from July 7, 2001, to October 15, 2002. In December 2001, Green filed for divorce. In 2010, Green has stated that he has not seen Barrymore since the divorce, although both seem to be in decent condition, as Barrymore has spoken much about him.
In March 2006, Green broke two ribs in Costa Rica when a big wave swept him from the outcrop where he had been fishing and onto the rocks below.
